Is there a registry?
We don’t have a wedding registry. In Chinese culture, it is customary for guests to give a red envelope (known as hongbao) with cash as a way of celebrating and blessing the couple’s new chapter together.
That said, your presence at our wedding truly means the world to us. We also appreciate the time, effort, and expense many of you are making to travel and celebrate with us, especially those coming from abroad. Please know that gifts are completely optional, and celebrating together is more than enough for us.
Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?
The wedding will be a mixture of indoors and outdoors. The ceremony will be held outdoors, whilst the reception and banquet will be indoors.
When should I arrive?
Most guests should plan to arrive at 2:30 PM, which will allow time to settle in before the ceremony begins.
Family members and the wedding party will be invited to arrive earlier in the morning to take part in the traditional tea ceremony. If you are involved in the tea ceremony, we will share the exact timing with you in advance.
Will there be vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options?
The banquet will be served Chinese sharing style, with a variety of dishes placed at each table for guests to enjoy together. If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know when you RSVP so we can do our best to accommodate you.
What will the weather be like?
The weather is typically mild and pleasant, with daytime temperatures around 20–23 °C and cooler evenings around 15 °C. While autumn is generally comfortable and clear, there is always a small chance of rain, so bringing a light jacket or layer is recommended for the evening.
How do I get to the venue?
For travel advice on getting from Shanghai to Hangzhou, please see the Travel section of our website.
Once you are in Hangzhou, taking a Didi (China’s ride-hailing service) is usually the most convenient way to reach the venue. Please allow extra time for traffic, especially around the West Lake area, which can be busy.
What if I don't have any Chinese style attire to wear for the wedding?
That’s okay! While Chinese-style attire would look beautiful in the venue, anything elegant and formal in soft, graceful colours will also fit perfectly.
If I have any questions or run into a problem on the day, who should I contact?
If you have any questions or need help on the day, we’ll share a contact closer to the wedding to make sure everything goes smoothly.
